I’m Alyson Brown, a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner. I am a mother of two and lover of all things homemade, especially when it comes to home-cooked food made with whole, nutrient-dense, properly prepared ingredients.
In my past life, I graduated with an honors degree in English literature from Brown University, and then worked as a journalist focusing on the Healthy Living and fitness beats. What really catapulted my desire to learn more about real food was thinking about my prenatal diet and health before my first pregnancy. I wanted to do as much as I could to nourish my body with real food and support it with appropriate lifestyle changes.
After my children were born their nutrition and development became my priority - a full-time job really – but sometimes at the expense of my own health. I often found myself grabbing a convenient but unhealthy energy bar on the go, snacking as I cooked, or eating my children’s leftovers off their plates and calling that dinner.
It was time for me to dig a little deeper. I got tired of feeling depleted and stressed about my own health. I needed to understand how the human body functions and what I could do to get my own body back to optimal health and beauty.
I graduated from the Nutritional Therapy Association, which motivated me to share my knowledge and journey, helping others with their health concerns and challenges. I can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org
